Argos starts with two basic media types - "Small" and "Large". If you have upgraded from a previous version of Argos (6.x, 7.0.x), you may have additional media types already defined.

Small is generally used for printers that use defined paper sizes, such as Letter, Legal, Tabloid. Most customers choose to bill Small prints at a specific rate per paper size.

Large is generally used for plotters that print on roll-based media, where many different sizes are possible. While there are typically a handful of standard sizes (18x24, 24x36, etc), it is possible to print just about any size within the constraints of your roll width. For this reason, most customers choose to bill Large type jobs per square foot or square meter.

Argos 7.1.0 introduces an exciting feature - color detection directly within the print driver. Prior to version 7.1.0, separate media for "Small Color" and "Small B&W" were defined with separate prices. In 7.1.0, this is no longer necessary - a single media can have separate prices for color and B&W job types. Don't worry - your reports will still show the same media names as before.\

Enabling Color Pricing

A second set of price options will be displayed for any media that has color pricing enabled.

  1. Click the "Gear" icon to the right of a media
  2. Select "Enable Color Pricing"
  3. Repeat for any additional media that should have color pricing

Color Pricing affects a wide range of Argos components, including:

  • Walkup Copy Tracking (Canon, Sharp, Konica Minolta, Ricoh, Xerox)
  • Wide Format Integration devices (Oce, KIP, HP, Canon IPF, etc)
  • Deltek Vision Export
  • Custom Reports
  • Custom Export scripts

Be prepared for this change, and contact Sepialine Support for assistance.

Enabling Duplicate Pricing

Argos supports different pricing for "First out" and "additional" prints. Some customers charge a higher rate for the initial print job and a lesser rate for additional copies created at the same time. Any media that has Duplicate Pricing enabled will have separate rows for first and additional print jobs.

  1. Click the "Gear" icon to the right of a media
  2. Choose "Enable Duplicate Pricing"
  3. Repeat for any other media that should have Duplicate pricing

Enabling Page Area Rounding

Some customers prefer to round large format plot jobs up to the nearest square foot for billing purposes. This option is only available for media billed by square feet or square meters.

  1. Click the "Gear" icon to the right of a media
  2. Click "Enable Page Area Rounding"
  3. The media will now show "Priced by Square feet, rounded"

Setting a Tax Rate

Argos 7 supports native tax rates, and can have different tax rates per media/pricing schedule if desired.

  1. Click the "Gear" icon to the right of a media
  2. Click "Set Tax Rate..."
  3. Enter the desired tax rate
  4. Repeat for any other media that should have a tax rate

Tax rate will now appear on reports as a calculated field.
