System requirements

The requirements for an Argos 7 installation can vary depending on a number of factors, including:   Number of users Number of servers Number of offices Number of integrated devices Number of Billing Codes Strength of WAN connection between offices Sepialine Support can assist you in determining specific system requirements for the servers in your environment. The following are the basic requirements for a small single-office Argos 7 site.

Database

• Windows Server 2003 SP2, Windows Server 2008 or
• Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista, Windows 7 (not recommended for sites with 10 or more users)
• Microsoft SQL 2005 or 2008 (Argos 7 ships with MS SQL 2008 Express, but version 2005 or higher can be used). Read this page for more information on choosing a SQL edition.
• Windows Installer 4.5 (if using included SQL 2008 Express)
• .NET 3.5 SP1 (if using included SQL 2008 Express)
• .NET 4
• 10 GB free hard drive space

Communication server

• Windows Server 2003 or higher or
• Windows XP or higher (not recommended for sites with 10 or more users)
• .NET 4
• MSXML 4.0 SP3
• 10 GB free hard drive space

Argos Manager

• Windows XP or higher
• .NET 4
• 10 GB free hard drive space

Print servers

• 2 GB RAM. 2 cores preferred.
• For print servers hosting more than 10 queues, 4 GB RAM and 4 cores preferred.
• 10 GB free hard drive space (more space recommended if large print jobs, such as those from Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Quark Express, or other graphics applications, are expected)
• .NET 3.5 SP1

Argos Desktop Client (for print tracking or interactive billing)

• Windows XP or higher
• .NET 3.5 SP1
• 1 GB free hard drive space

Argos for Mac

• Mac OS 10.5 or higher
• 1.25 GhZ Power PC G4 with 512 MB of RAM or
• Any Intel
• 1 GB free hard drive space

Running everything on one computer

• Windows XP or higher (server-grade Windows recommended)
• 3.0 GHz Dual Core (quad core recommended)
• 4 GB of RAM
• 10 GB free hard drive space (more space recommended if large print jobs, such as those from Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Quark Express, or other graphics applications, are expected)
