Juris is a SQL-based legal accounting package. The following describes a basic client and matter code import from a Juris database.

Configure Argos for Client/Matter billing

By default, Argos ships with Billing Code names of "Project" and "Phase". In legal environments, "Client" and "Matter" are generally used instead.

  1. Open Argos Manager and click "Projects"
  2. Click the "Gear" icon below the Projects tier and select "Define billing code structure"
  3. Click the ellipsis (...) next to "Project"
  4. Change the name from "Project" to "Client"
  5. Click "OK"
  6. Click the ellipsis (...) next to"Phase"
  7. Change the name from "Phase" to "Matter"
  8. Click "OK"

 

Set up connection to Juris

  1. Open Argos Manager and click "Clients"
  2. Click the "Gear" icon below the Clients tier and select "Import..."
  3. Select "Imports billing codes from a variety of sources" and click "Configure..."
  4. Click the ellipsis (...) next to "Connection String" to open the Data Link Properties dialog
  5. Select "Microsoft Ole DB Provider for SQL Server" from the "Provider"tab and click "Next"
  6. Enter name of Juris database server, SQL username and password, and Juris database
  7. Click "Test Connection" to confirm settings
  8. Click "OK"

 

Import Client codes

  1. Select "Clients" tab and click "Use SQL statement" radio button
  2. Click "Edit SQL" button
  3. Enter the following query (may vary based on your specific needs)

    select distinct
      right(CliCode,6) as CliCode,
      CliNickName
    from Client AS C
      INNER JOIN Matter AS M ON M.MatCliNbr = C.CliSysNbr
    WHERE M.MatStatusFlag = 'O'
  4. Select CliCode from Number dropdown
  5. Select CliNickName from Name dropdown
  6. Leave other options unchecked
  7. Click "Preview" to verify data is correct

Import Matter codes

  1. Select "Clients" tab and click "Use SQL statement" radio button
  2. Click "Edit SQL" button
  3. Enter the following query (may vary based on your specific needs)

      select 
      right(C.CliCode,6) as CliCode,
      right(M.MatCode,6) as MatCode,
      M.MatNickName
    from Client as C
      inner join Matter as M on M.MatcliNbr = C.CliSysNbr
    where M.MatStatusFlag = 'O'
    order by C.CliCode
  4. Select MatCode from Number dropdown
  5. Select MatNickName from Name dropdown
  6. Select CliCode from Project number dropdown
  7. Leave other options unchecked
  8. Click "Preview" to verify data is correct
